Product description
The HIV1 p24 ELISA Kit (ab218268) is a 90-minute single wash sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of HIV1 p24 protein in human serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, and cell and tissue extract samples. It uses our patented SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantify HIV1 p24 with a sensitivity of 1.1 pg/ml.
SimpleStep ELISA technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This sandwich ELISA approach allows for the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. See the simple steps ELISA protocol summary in the imaging section for more details. Our ELISA SimpleStep technology offers several benefits:
- Single wash protocol reduces assay time to 90 minutes or less
- High sensitivity, specificity, and reproducibility of superior antibodies
- Fully validated in biological samples
- 96-well plate that can be broken into 12 x 8-well strips
A 384-well SimpleStep ELISA microplate (ab203359) is available for use as an alternative to the 96-well microplate provided with the SimpeStep ELISA kits.
Assay Specificity
This kit recognizes both native and recombinant HIV-1 p24 protein in serum, plasma with EDTA and heparin, cell culture supernatant, and cell and tissue extracts only. Urine, saliva, and milk samples have not been tested with this kit.
Cross-Reactivity
Recombinant HIV-1 Gag protein was prepared at 50 ng/ml and 1 ng / ml and analyzed for cross-reactivity. A cross-reactivity of 1% was observed.
Notes
The HIV1 p24 (capsid) protein is essential for HIV-1 viral replication and for HIV-1 infection of non-dividing cells. The HIV1 p24 proteins form a viral capsid that encapsulates the HIV1 genomic RNA. The HIV1 p24 concentration in host plasma is commonly used as an indicator of viral load. Following viral infection, the development of host anti-HIV1 p24 humoral responses leads to the formation of immune complexes and a reduction in the concentration of free HIV1 p24 in the circulation.
